Kojiro FUJII specializes in competition law and international trade laws and has handled a number of significant cases enhancing the Japan’s security of energy and natural resources. In this regard, his career in competition law includes successful counseling to complete international mergers contributing to increased efficiencies in nuclear power plants and fuel industries, and successful advocacy to block the two sets of mergers in the sector of natural mineral resources, which would have harmed the user industries in East Asia and EU. Until recently, he served as the deputy director in charge of trade dispute settlement at Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry in order to act on behalf of the Japanese government before the WTO tribunal involving China’s export restrictions of rare earths. He currently serves as one of the committee members of Energy and Law Study Group of the Institute of Energy Economics.
