Ms. Shimada is a Principal at Mercer’s Global M&A consulting in Tokyo. She provides pre-and-post deal HR/Management and organization related support for both domestic and cross-border M&A deals of various industries and countries. She was a start-up member of the M&A business at Mercer Japan back in 2002 and has been playing the key role since then.
Examples of the projects she led :
- HR/Management Due Diligence of private equity and corporate deals
- Post-merger HR Management integration of large Japanese companies
- Organization survey and change management of foreign affiliated and Japanese companies
- Holistic pre-and-post outbound cross-border acquisition support of listed Japanese companies
- Holistic pre-and-post inbound cross-border acquisition support of foreign acquirers
- Cross-border Joint Venture development and employee transfer support in Japan
- Global HR management program development and implementation of Japanese companies
Prior to joining Mercer, she worked at HR Planning Department of a Japanese Corporation.
Ms. Shimada is the co-author of Attraction and Retention: The Human Capital Strategy (2001, Toyo Keizai), HR Due Diligence for Successful M&A (2006 & 2010 ; Chuo Keizai) and Post-Merger Integration" (2007 ; Nikkei Publishing), “M&A Integration Handbook” (2010, Chio Keizai).
Ms. Shimada holds BA from School of International Political Science and Business, Aoyama Gakuin University and MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Dr. Kassab has extensive business experience across Asia as well as in Europe and the USA. He has held senior positions at Sanyo Electric, a global Japanese electronics manufacturer, Mercer, a US based global HR Consulting firm, and most recently at Culture Convenience Club, the dominant Japanese player in the consumer entertainment and lifestyle sector. His work has ranged from facilitating European wide strategic planning sessions aimed at exploring synergies and enhancing competitiveness, developing ways to internationalize and globalize business operations, and implementing change programs for overseas subsidiaries.
As well as his strong professional background he also recently completed doctoral research looking into the use of Stories and Storytelling in Organizations as a tool for inspiring employees and bringing about visionary change.
